We want students to start their college career prepared for not only their first year at NMU, but for years to come. Throughout the summer, we are hosting a number of virtual Orientation programs for our students. The program emphasizes integrating new students into the academic and co-curricular life of the institution, and connecting students with the campus community.

General Information

The New Student Orientation Program will be implemented virtually for all Summer 2020 sessions. Check out the links below for more information, or to register for your own orientation session.

Student orientation will consist of three required phases. Each phase will take the student through important information and opportunities available to them at NMU. There will also be optional virtual workshops and group activities for students to participate in to connect with their fellow students. Learn more:

Parent and guest orientation will also take place virtually. As more information is made known, you will find updates here:

As students sign up and prepare for orientation, there will certainly be questions. We have gathered some of those questions on our frequently asked questions page. If you donNMU works hard to place students in courses that are appropriate for their skill levels. Some decisions are based on admission data while others are based on test scores.
