Orientation

The New Student Orientation Program provides comprehensive programs and services that facilitate the transition of new students to Northern Michigan University prior to the start of classes. All new students to Northern Michigan University are required to attend an orientation session prior to registering for classes. You will need to attend an orientation session to register for winter, summer or fall courses. Guest students who are only attending NMU for the summer semester are not required to attend orientation.

***As of March 23rd, per our Governor's order, we are staying in place and working remotely.  If you should have any questions or concerns regarding orientation, please send them to orient@nmu.edu during normal business hours (Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm) and we will respond within one business day, if not sooner.  Thank you for your patience.***
***As of March 17th, NMU's New Student Orientation Program is continuing to plan for summer orientation sessions while also working on back-up plans, should the Coronavirus pandemic continue through the summer. We will be sure to communicate with registered students regarding significant changes as we are able. Thank you for your patience.***
