The members of NMU student organizations sponsor almost 300 campus-wide programs and events every year in addition to the hundreds of group activities. These same students volunteer thousands of hours of service annually to local communities. In the process, the student organizations that register at Northern Michigan University every year provide thousands of students with fun, friendships, memories, and educational experiences that cannot be found in the classroom.
Efforts put forth by student organizations are recognized annually at the Leadership Recognition Banquet.

|Description||The Student Psychological Association (SPA) is composed of psychology majors and minors and provides these students with numerous opportunities to interact with faculty and other members from a psychology-related background. This association will enhance each individual's knowledge of the breadth of psychology and career possibilities by providing speakers from various fields within this study. Additionally, the SPA focuses on campus and community activities as well as social interactions within the department. SPA also helps to inform students of graduate school possibilities, community service programs and psychology related jobs in the community. For more information, please see the SPA/Psi-Chi bulletin board located across from the main Psychology Office on the third floor of Gries Hall or email firstname.lastname@example.org.|
