Student Organization: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

Description InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (Intervarsity is the British way of saying between schools, or "varsities" we started with groups forming fellowship between Cambridge and Oxford in the 1800's) is active on almost 800 campuses around the US and is a founding member of the International Fellowship of Evangelical students which feature indigenous student lead ministry on university campuses in over 170 countries. National website . At NMU we seek to live as a community that is being transformed by Jesus. We desire to not be separate from the campus community, but to build relationships with all students and faculty. We seek to be a blessing to the campus as we pray for the campus and seek to help people investigate Christian spiritual life. We are convinced that Jesus is relevant not just to our personal growth, but calls us to worship Him through our studies, work, occupations, and relationships. Our vision statement states that, we seek to "grow in love for God, God's word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world." InterVarsity provides a biblical-based learning atmosphere where students and faculty can grow in ministry and leadership skills. Besides our weekly meetings (Fridays 7 p.m. in the University Center) we also have daily prayer meeting each weekday where we pray for specific areas of the campus, and small groups that seek to form authentic community, study scripture, and seek to serve those around us. We also have many social activities, have chapter retreats as well as retreats with Intervarsity chapters from other schools.
