Student Organization: Alpine Ski Team

Description The Alpine Ski Team is a great venue for skiers to continue racing throughout their collegiate years and to meet people with similar interests. The Alpine Ski Team competes in the USCSA where we're part of the Lake Superior Division of the Midwest Region, which holds its regional race at our home hill, Marquette Mountain, every season. Additionally, NMU Alpine continuously sends representatives to Nationals (for twelve consecutive years!) which were held in Lake Placid, NY, last year. A newer aspect of the sport is the USCSA introducing freestyle for both disciplines as well as skier-cross, which is open to everyone. You can also qualify for nationals for both of these events! We practice during the week and have five to six races each season on the weekends. Outside of ski racing, our club participates in volunteer work, fundraisers, and team bonding. Dues are $500 per person, which includes registration fees for the league and individual races, hotels, gas, equipment for practice, and team building activities. Members must supply ski equipment, a season pass to Marquette Mountain, lift tickets at races, and food while traveling. Members are also required to purchase a PEIF pass for the year. No racing experience is required, although it is recommended to have experience. For more information, contact Megan Gasser Club President (
