The Multicultural Education and Resource Center (MERC) provides services to and a safe space for students who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or other sexual and gender minorities. Students who may be questioning their sexual identity are also welcome.

Trans Lifeline is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of trans lives by responding to the critical needs of our community with direct service, material support, advocacy, and education. Their vision is to fight the epidemic of trans suicide and improve overall life-outcomes of trans people by facilitating justice-oriented, collective community aid. ALLIES meetings are held in Hedgcock 2603 from 12 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Students who, through leadership, support or involvement in organizations, activities or issues that promote awareness and acceptance of the lesbian/gay/bi-sexual/transgender/queer/plus (LGBTQ+) community at Northern Michigan University, may apply for the ALLIES Scholarship. Applicants must provide a written statement (1000 words), documenting there experiences. The $500 minimum scholarship will be split between two semesters.
Q+A - Queers and Allies Social Club
Associate Professor Gary Stark is advisor for this student organization. Q+A meetings are held Wednesday evenings at 8:30 p.m. in the Cadillac Room of the University Center.
