Six international students at Northern Michigan University received the International Student Scholarship established in 1998 by the Weting family. Aino Tikkanen of Finland is pictured center in the first photo with Marilyn and John Weting of Marquette. John was director of international programs at NMU. The second photo shows the following students with the Wetings (from left): Yahong Feng, China; Jannis Bartning, Germany; Abdulkadir Yapici, Turkey; Wenfei Kou, China; and Niyomi Wijewardena, Sri Lanka.

The Weting family (John, Lawrence, Lucille, Claudia and Marny) also supports the Weting International Student Fund, another source of financial support for international students attending NMU. A Global Study Abroad Scholarship established in 2005 by Lawrence, Lucille, John and Marny helps to fund a full-time NMU student participating in a semester-long study abroad program.
