MARQUETTE—Northern Michigan University’s string quartet and percussion ensemble, under the direction of Barbara Rhyneer and James Strain, will perform a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, in Reynolds Recital Hall. Admission is free. The concert will open with William Hofeldt's "Dance Parhelia" and other selections performed by the NMU string quartet. The percussion ensemble will perform several different styles of contemporary American music, from minimalism to jazz, composed by Volz, Jones, Hovanhess, Frock, Gauger and Firth.
