The Northern Michigan University music department will present its annual gala concert of opera arias and art songs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, in Reynolds Recital Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge. The program features solo arias and duets from grand opera and operetta, as well as famous concert songs—all performed by NMU vocal music students. Five students will give “preview” performances of selections they are preparing for a competition sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Their professor, Robert Engelhart, will be master of ceremonies. Music faculty pianist Nancy Redfern will serve as accompanist. For more information, contact the NMU music department at 227-2563.
