The Northern Michigan University department of music will present a faculty art song recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, in Reynolds Recital Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge. The concert features Robert Engelhart, tenor, and Nancy Redfern on piano. They will perform two songs from John Corigliano’s “Seven Poems of Bob Dylan.” The composer had amazingly never heard Dylan’s songs, but enjoyed the text of the poems and gave them an original musical treatment that bears no resemblance to the popular hits. Other program pieces include works by Francesco Paulo Tosti, Gabriel Faure and selections from “A Child’s Garden of Verses” by Seymour Barab.
