The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will present a beginners’ class on bird watching and wildflowers. It will be held from 7 a.m. to noon Friday, May 16.

Naturalists Don and Mary Snitgen will teach attendees where to go, what to look and listen for, what binoculars work best and other tips for beginning bird watchers. Also, they will talk about looking for and identifying wildflowers. Attendees will meet in the Berry Events Center east parking lot and carpool to areas along Big Bay Road.

The best time to view birds is early morning. Black flies and other bugs may be out by this time, so participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and to bring bug repellant. The class will be held regardless of the weather.

The cost for the class is $4 for NCLL members and $7 for nonmembers. To register, contact class liaison Carole Bard at 906-228-9367 by Wednesday, May 14.
