MARQUETTE – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will present a hike around Pictured Rocks in Munising from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23. Participants can meet at either the Berry Events Center east lot or Jack’s IGA in Harvey, whichever location is closer for them.

Those driving directly to Munising should meet the rest of the group at 10 a.m. at Falling Rock Café. In the event of a rain delay, the hike will be rescheduled for Wednesday, May 24.

After breaking up into small groups, experienced hikers Mary Snitgen, Kathy Davis and Kathy Peters will teach participants about spring wildflowers and birds that return to the area after winter. Two hiking routes will be available—one involving steep stairs to Miner’s Falls, and one paved with easy terrain leading to Miner’s Castle.

Participants should wear good walking shoes and bring binoculars. Some may stay in Munising for lunch, while others may prefer to return to Marquette.

The cost is $4 for NCLL members and $7 for nonmembers. The registration deadline is Friday, May 19. To register, contact the NCLL office at 227-2979. For more information, contact Snitgen at 892-8242.
