GRE PREP

The Mathematics and Computer Science Department in conjunction with McNair Scholars will be providing FREE GRE Prep sessions this semester.

GRE Prep will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:00 to 5:50 P.M. in Jamrich 3311 beginning Tuesday 5 September 2023 5:00 P.M. EDT.

The class will be simulcast over Zoom:

Zoom ID:  196-130-483 Passcode:  001098
Zoom link:  https://nmu.zoom.us/j/196130483?pwd=YkhBS1NLcjVWd05qS0ZDYnVyOEY0Zz09

The GRE is a standardized test required by many universities in the United States and Canada for academic master's and doctoral programs.  We will look at all sections of the General Test:  Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Writing Analysis.  THERE HAVE BEEN SOME CHANGES TO THE GRE.  We will cover these, too.

If you are thinking of attending graduate school in Mathematics, you will probably need to take the Mathematics Subject Test.  I can cover that, as well, upon request.

This prep class has been taught at NMU since 2001.  There has NEVER been a fee.  There is another GRE Prep class offered by NMU with a fee.  I am unaffiliated with that other class.  This class is absolutely free.

Any questions or concerns please contact Andy Poe at apoe@nmu.edu

Please contact the Department at 227-2020 for more information on the Mathematics and Computer Science Tutor Labs.

Paid Student Tutors: Students who need more help than can be provided in the Math Lab can pay an upper division student for tutorial help. To obtain such a tutor, contact the Math and Computer Science Department at 227-2020 or math_cs@nmu.edu.

University Tutors: The University provides tutoring help for NMU students in any course. A description of All-Campus Tutoring is posted on bulletin boards throughout campus. More information can be obtained from All Campus Tutoring at 227-2971.

GRE Preparation:  If you are thinking of studying for an academic master's or doctorate, you will need to take the Graduate Records Examination, or GRE, a standardized test offered by Educational Testing Services. This is a free service offered by the Mathematics and Computer Science Department and is open to the general public.  Tell your friends!
