Projects and Implementations

The Business Intelligence and Information Services Department provides many services for the NMU community. This is a sample of the software projects and implementations we support for students, faculty, staff and alumni, to satisfy their needs for information and secure automated, self-service processes.  




Educational Access Network: Best effort LTE services provided by NMU without data caps or reduced speeds. A new, creative, and affordable way of bringing high-speed educational broadband with a full range of educational opportunities to rural America.


Salesforce Logo  


Salesforce CRM: Salesforce is our Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system.  It provides a platform for managing relationships and the data associated with those relationships.  It supports the recruitment activities for undergraduate, graduate, and international students.

Starfish: Starfish is a student retention platform. It provides an easy interface for students to reach out for assistance, for faculty to provide feedback to students, and for all users to actively engage in a student's opportunities for success.

Adirondack Housing Solutions: The Housing Director software delivers a user-friendly platform for managing room assignments, roommate selection, billing, and student information.



NMU Admissions Application: NMU has a custom-built Admissions Application. The application is mobile ready, and works for all types of students applying to NMU. The streamlined design allows applicants to apply to NMU in under 5 minutes, and helps applicants track their progress through the admissions process.




Handshake: NMU Career Services uses Handshake to manage communication and events for students, employers, and job seekers. 


Parchment: NMU Admissions uses Parchment to improve processing efficiency by streamlining electronic document exchanges between NMU and students (transcripts, school profiles, etc.)
IBM Cognos: IBM Cognos facilitates business reporting for NMU, while enabling data-driven insights for the campus community.




Twilio: Twilio makes it possible for NMU students to receive broadcast text messages.




Public Safety App Network: Custom-built Weapons Tracker and Key Request systems help Public Safety and other campus entities to increase efficiency and provide access to information at the click of a button.
