Summer Housing

The Housing and Residence Life Office provides housing in Spooner Hall and the Woodland Park apartments for students during May, June, July, and part of August. Typically students are housed between May 15 and August 6.  Housing options in Spooner Hall include furnished single rooms and furnished three-room (living area, bedroom, private bathroom) efficiency apartments. Options in Woodland Park include efficiency apartments, one-bedroom units, two-bedroom units, and four-bedroom units.

Move In/Move Out Dates

Because of the need to clean Spooner Hall and Woodland Park units after the 2017 winter semester, students who wish to live in Spooner or Woodland for some or all of the summer while they take classes are not permitted to move in before Monday, May 15, 2017.  Similarly, because of the need to prepare Spooner Hall and Woodland for the 2017 fall semester, summer residents must move out prior to Sunday, August 6, 2017.

Rates

If you are staying for more than 15 consecutive nights, you will qualify for a reduced monthly rate, indicated below. A prorated monthly rate will apply to the months of May and August and for those students staying more than 16 days, but less than 31. Students who plan to stay for fewer than 15 days should contact Housing and Residence Life for more information regarding daily rates.

Applications and Finalizing Your Reservation

A Summer College 2017 Student Housing Application form may be obtained in the Housing and Residence Life Office (3502 Hedgcock) or by emailing housing@nmu.edu (please include "Summer Housing" in the subject line).

To reserve summer college housing, return your completed application with the full amount due for your first preference, plus any charges for a meal plan, to the Student Services Office - Summer College Housing, Northern Michigan University, 1401 Presque Isle Ave, Marquette, MI  49855.  Please make your check payable to Northern Michigan University and include your name and NMU IN on the check.

Canceling Your Reservation

If your plans change and you will not be living on campus as indicated on the application, you must notify the Housing and Residence Life Office in writing at least five working days before you are scheduled to move in to avoid a $50 cancelation fee.
