Housing and Residence Life

Housing and Residence Life is dedicated to student learning inside and outside of the classroom by creating unique communities for students to call home in the residence halls and on-campus apartments. Office staff, Resident Directors, Resident Advisers & Community Advisers work to make a difference in the lives of the students with whom they interact.

Housing and Residence Life Photo Contest starting September 30th!  Do you think you have the eye for photography?  Enter the photo contest at your chance to have your work displayed throughout our residence halls!  Contest ends October 11th at 5:00 p.m. Click here to download and print entry form!

Mark your calendars!  Parapro interest night is coming October 16th!  It will be in Jamrich Hall room 1322, from 9 p.m.-11 p.m. Bring a friend!

 

Want to be a RA or a CA for winter semester?!  Applications will be available at the front desks of the residence halls, the Housing and Residence Life office,  and also Woodland Park Apartments starting October 21st!  Applications are due to the Housing and Residence Life office November 1st!

Maintenance Requests

Have a maintenance concern in your room or apartment? Log into the Housing Portal through your MyNMU, and click "Maintenance Requests" to let us know! If there is an emergency, please call our office, or tell your Resident Adviser/Community Adviser as soon as possible.

Please note that Housing and Residence Life communicates with students through their NMU email address. Be sure to check your NMU email regularly (even in the summer!) to receive updates, information about room selection, and all of the details about move-in. 

<a href="/housing/primetime">Primetime Productions</a> is a student organization funded by the Housing and Residence Life Office.  Its purpose is to provide a variety of free, on-campus entertainment that builds community throughout the residence halls at Northern Michigan University.The mission of the Housing and Residence Life Office is to make significant contributions to student learning through excellent service, well-managed facilities, and a residential environment rich with opportunities for personal growth, especially that which grows out of interaction and interpersonal relationships, the creation of unique communities, and involvement in other aspects of campus life. Students are enjoying this large common area where they can study, host meetings, and continue to build community.Congratulations to Shady Grove in Hunt Hall for earning the House of the Year award!
