Community Outreach

Northern Michigan University is a recipient of the Carnegie Foundation’s  “community-engaged campus” designation, and NMU’s School of Health and Human Performance is certainly engaged with the Upper Peninsula community!

Our School offers opportunities for community members in fitness programs for both the young and old, specialized training such as first aid, fitness and wellness testing and injury evaluations – to name a few of the many activities that comprise its outreach efforts.

Each semester programs and activities are offered.  If you’d like more information about a particular course or program, don’t hesitate to contact us.
