Northern Michigan University is a recipient of the Carnegie Foundation’s “community-engaged campus” designation, and NMU’s School of Health and Human Performance is certainly engaged with the Upper Peninsula community!
The department offers opportunities for community members in fitness programs for both the young and old, specialized training such as first aid, fitness and wellness testing and injury evaluations – to name a few of the many activities that comprise its outreach efforts.
Each year new programs and activities are offered, so check this site regularly. If you’d like more information about a particular course or program, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Please visit Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) for information about health education outreach including camps and other community engagements.
