Total amount distributed: As of 8 July 2020, NMU had distributed to students, under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act a total of $2,215,565.
Total number of students eligible: The estimated total number of students at Northern Michigan university eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) is 4,906 students.
Total number of students served: As of 8 MAY 2020, NMU had distributed Emergency Financial Aid Grant support, under Section 18004(a)(1) of the Cares Act, to a total of 3,393 students.
Methods: The method(s) used by NMU to determine student recipients of Emergency Financial Aid Grants, and the amount they receive(d), under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act was created by NMU as a model of a new internal application for relief funds established by the NMU Foundation. That fund distributed funds to students in need and expired 1 MAY 2020. A second application was available for CARES Act Emergency Fund through 15 June 2020.
