Biography
Matthew Gavin Frank is the author of the nonfiction books, The Mad Feast: An Ecstatic Tour Through America’s Food, Preparing the Ghost: An Essay Concerning the Giant Squid and Its First Photographer, Pot Farm, and Barolo, the poetry books, The Morrow Plots, Warranty in Zulu, and Sagittarius Agitprop, and 2 chapbooks.  Preparing the Ghost was featured on the cover of the New York Times Book Review, as well as in the Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, and the Los Angeles Review of Books.  It was a New York Times Editors' Choice, an NPR Notable Book, one of Flavorwire's Must Read Books, and one of The New Yorker Books to Watch Out For.  The Mad Feast was a Paris Review Staff Pick, chosen as a Best Book of 2015 by Ploughshares, Paste Magazine, Plate Magazine, Largehearted Boy, and Volume One Brooklyn, long-listed for The Art of Eating Prize, and featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, Saveur, and Entertainment Weekly. His work appears widely in journals and magazines, including The Kenyon Review, The Paris Review, Iowa Review, The New Republic, Guernica, Conjunctions, Salon, and The Normal School.  He teaches courses in nonfiction and poetry at Northern Michigan University, where he is the Nonfiction/Hybrids Editor of Passages North
