Egyptian Fulbright Fellow, Osama Medany, to Visit NMU

Professor Medany will meet with students and staff and give a public talk on art and revolution in Egypt.  The public talk will be on Thursday, September 4th at 6:00pm in the Huron Room of the University Center (UC).

Osama Madany is professor of English and Chair, Department of English, Faculty of Arts, Minoufiya University, Egypt. Fields of interest include modern and contemporary English and American poetry, American Studies, comparative literature, contemporary literary theory, and translation studies. He is co-founder of the American Studies Alumni Circle at the Binational Fulbright Commission in Cairo, Egypt and member of Selection Committee for Fulbright Pre and post - Doctoral Programs in the Social Sciences Focusing on American Studies. He is director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit at the Faculty of Arts, Minoufiya Univ., and Executive Director of Research Consultation and Languages Service Center, Faculty of Arts, Minoufiya University. He has implemented two Memorandum Agreements (Protocols) with Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon. He has been conducting the Soliya "Connect Program" to students of Menoufiya; a semester-long program integrated into university courses at over 75 universities worldwide by Soliya Inc. (an NGO with partner of the UN Alliance of Civilizations). Professor Madany is recipient of three Fulbright grants, and is university consultant on curriculum development and member of several university service committees. He has published extensively on Arab and Arab-American literature, and is a professional translator at the Egyptian National Translation Center.
