The Jacobetti Complex on the Northern Michigan University campus currently serves as a facility for organized labor training, which includes apprentice training and journeymen upgrade courses.
Local union chapters such as Plumbers and Pipe Fitters, Brick Layers and Allied Crafts, Sheet Metal Workers, Iron Workers, and Operating Engineers are tenants at the School of Technology and Applied Sciences.
Such tenancy and training is coordinated between NMU’s industry and workforce staff and interested business agents, union representatives and managers. These agreements allow for individuals already in the workforce to receive the necessary schooling within a fitting educational environment.
