All copies made at Printing Services must be in compliance with the current copyright laws. We will be happy to answer any of your questions regarding this before you submit your job. Just because copies are made for educational purposes does not mean they can be freely copied if it does not follow the existing guidelines. Please do not wait until the last minute to find out if you can copy certain information without permission. Permission is frequently granted by publishers, but there may not be enough time to get permission before your project is due.
For more information:
NMU Lydia M. Olson Library offers assistance in securing copyright and determining if permission is needed, as well as a handy compilation of information on copyright.
Graphic Identity Standards
NMU has a set of standards for how the NMU signature and other university logos can be used and reproduced, the content and appearance of certain official communication pieces, and university colors and fonts. The university also provides guidelines for preparing publications in an effective and consistent format. Some of the information is in the process of being updated and some exceptions may be granted in special situations. If you have any questions about the standards or need guidance in designing a piece, please contact Printing Services at 906-227-2454, or University Marketing and Communications at 906-227-2720.
