Career Services

Career Services seeks to assist NMU students and alumni with career exploration and job placement concerns. It provides resources and services focused on assisting students with career placement and career decision-making activities linking NMU students and alumni with potential employers, teaching effective job-search strategies and providing supportive information and resources to faculty and staff in addressing the career-related concerns of students.

 

Virtual Fairs

During the Fall Semester, the Construction Management & Technology Career Fair (September 24) and the Fall Semester Job Fair (October 21) will be held virtually on Handshake.

Did You Know? 

  • NMU employs approximately 1,600 students! 
  • The departments with the most student employees: Dining Services, Athletics, and Housing & Residence Life. 

Join the other 1,600 students and get a job on-campus: Log in to Handshake via MyNMU to see open positions. 

 

New Students

Looking for a job while attending NMU? Check out Handshake - our job-posting system!  Once you have registered for classes, we will create an account for you associated with your NMU email address.  Please allow 3-5 business days for this to happen.  To access your account, log into MyNMU and click on 'Handshake' under the 'Student Services' tab.

Handshake

Handshake is Career Services' all-in-one web system. For students and alumni, it's where you can search and apply for job opportunities 24/7. You can also host and manage resumes, cover letters and more. For employers, it's possible to post and manage multiple job openings. For pre-orientation students (not yet registered for classes), open on-campus jobs and other jobs in the U.P. can be viewed by visiting our Twitter: www.twitter.com/NMUCareerServic or follow us at @NMUCareerServic

Career Services wants to help students succeed. In addition to the Handshake listings, we also offer a number of job-search workshops, job fairs, on-campus recruiting and more. Learn about all Career Services programs and opportunities.  If you've got a question - chat with us!  Look for the green tab in the lower right. 

<a href="http://www.nmu.edu/careerservices/workshops">Career-oriented workshops</a> brought to you by Career Services and the Student Leader Fellowship Program in the Skill Builder Workshop Series.  These workshops are available for free to current students and alumni! Discover YOUR future in the Fox Cities (Wisconsin)! Premium employers from the Fox Cities region will be on hand to talk about your interests, abilities and goals for Fox Cities Days VIRTUAL 2020! This <a href="http://www.nmu.edu/careerservices/fall-job-fair">fair</a> will be held virtually on October 21, 2020.  This is an opportunity for employers to share information with NMU students about a wide range of career possibilities including part-time, full-time, summer jobs and internships..Students and Alum!  Did you know attending a job fair could win you a prize?    Select one of our fairs in Handshake and click on the +Join Event button.  Then check in at the fair and your name will be placed into the prize drawing.
