Bring a laptop, or a way to take notes, or just come by casually - there will be sample resumes and other resource handouts available.

Skillbuilder: Interviews and Job Fairs: Cruise Through With Confidence

  • Monday, October 7, 5:30 p.m.
  • 2303 C.B. Hedgcock
  • Well-crafted resumes will get you the interview, not necessarily the job. Interactions with employers through the interview process and through networking opportunities like job fairs are what sell an employer on your fit with their organization and company culture. In this workshop, learn what to expect, how to make a great impression and how to ace that interaction with potential employers.
  • Please register at www.nmu.edu/skillbuilders.

Build Elevator Pitch (and Practice)

  • Tuesday, October 8, 2-4 p.m.
  • Hedgcock - Top Floor Atrium (near Melted)
  • What happens if your dream employer gets into the elevator with you? Do you know how to concisely tell them why you'd be a great fit for their company? Stop by to find out how to build your elevator pitch and customize it to specific employers.

Skillbuilder: "Soft" Skills Matter Too! Don't Sell Yourself Short...

  • Wednesday, October 9, 5:00 p.m.
  • 2303 C.B. Hedgcock
  • Increasingly, employers are looking for candidates who demonstrate important "soft" skills such as listening, communication and/or problem-solving skills, as well as Emotional Intelligence (EI). As opposed to "hard" skills such as technical skills, "soft" skills are moved universal and recently there has been an identifiable gap in candidates. Set yourself apart from other job-seekers by identifying your "soft" skills and learning how to demonstrate them where it counts.
  • Please register at www.nmu.edu/skillbuilders.
