Join us for Career Week: October 1-10!

 

We're focusing on what it takes to get you from college to career - Majors Expo, Free Professional Headshots, Resume/Cover Letter Workshop, Job Fair Prep Workshop, Resume Labs and more!  We've got lots of great activities geared towards students of any age or major - so check out the schedule below and join us! (Click the title of each activity for more information.)

Resume Lab

  • Monday, October 1, 6-8 p.m.
  • Woods Classroom
  • Get tips, tricks and drop-in assistance with your resume, whether you're just getting started, or think it's set to go (and just want to get another quick opinion). Bring a friend or come solo. Bring a laptop, or a way to take notes, or just come by casually - there will be sample resumes and other resource handouts available. We hope to see you there! 

Pop-Up Career Closet

  • Tuesday, October 2, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Jamrich Hall Commons Area
  • Did you know there is a FREE resource on-campus to seek clothing appropriate for your job search process? The ASNMU Career Closet and NMU Career Services is partnering to bring a Pop-Up Career Closet to introduce you to this resource, as well as showcase a few of the options available to you as NMU students. Come see us in the Jamrich lobby at this special time and date! 

Skillbuilder: Writing Great Resumes and Cover Letters

  • Tuesday, October 2, 4 p.m.
  • 2303 C.B. Hedgcock
  • Learn to create an effective resume that will get you noticed in today's job market.  This workshop will cover resume writing techniques and you'll also learn how to avoid some common resume missteps.  Find out the best ways to start making your resume work harder for you!  Then learn about what makes an effective cover letter to go with it.

  • Learn how to get the most out of job fairs by attending this workshop.  Find out what to expect from an event and learn how best to prepare.  We'll also cover what you should do and expect on the day of the job fair, as well as how to follow up.

What Not to Wear Workshop

  • Have you ever wondered what you should wear to a job interview and other career-related socials and events? The ASNMU Career Closet and NMU Career Services is partnering up to bring you samples, as well as tips and tricks regarding dressing for success in your career through the initial meet and greets, interviews and beyond. There will be bonus tips on staying organized, to help present your best self now and as you launch your career!
