NMU senior Nordic skier Kyle Bratrud will extend his overseas stay. The Wildcat has been named a part of the 16-athlete team who will represent the United States at the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships Feb. 18-March 1 in Falun, Sweden. Earlier this season, Bratrud was chosen to represent Team USA at the upcoming FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships Jan. 28-Feb. 8 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, after capturing the U.S. Championship in the 15K freestyle at the U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships. Joining Bratrud on the team representing the United States is NMU alum Caitlin Gregg (Compton), who was an All-American at NMU in 2002.

It's been another successful season for coach Sten Fjeldheim's NMU Nordic ski team. Earlier this month, it won the College Cup at the 2015 U.S. Cross Country Championships with a score of 800, edging out the University of Vermont with 755. The women earned 406 points towards the cup, while the men chipped in the other 394. This marked the second consecutive year the Wildcats have won the College Cup.
