Hugo Eyzaguirre (Economics) presented the paper “Textbook Confessions: Do College Textbooks Systematically Cover Government Failure?” at the Conference on Teaching and Research on Economic Education, organized by the Committee on Economic Education of the American Economic Association.

Mary Jane Tremethick (HPER) and Eileen Smit (Nursing) presented “Self Directed Learning to Guide Service Learning Activities” at the national American Alliance for Health Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD) Conference in Charlotte, N.C. The presentation highlighted work with students in HL/NU 386 Interdisciplinary Study in Global Health Care—Central America. Prior to their immersion, students participate in self-directed learning activities that result in determining which service learning projects they will provide while in Honduras.

Phil Watts and Randy Jensen (HPER), along with NMU graduate Megan Ostrowski and visiting scholar Vanessa Espana-Romero, presented “Change in Geometric Entropy and Energy Expenditure with Repeated Ascents in Rock Climbing” at the American College of Sports Medicine annual meeting in Indianapolis.

Maggy Moore (HPER), along with Dr. J. Bryan Dixon of Marquette General Hospital and alumnus Eric Daniels, presented “A Comparison of Body Fat, Lean Muscle Mass and Max Vertical Jump Height in Olympic Level Athletes” at the National Athletic Trainers Association Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.
