Achievements
The local Good News Awards jury honored WNMU-FM with a Good News Award for “Veterans’ Reflections,” a program by Hans Ahlstrom and Alex Gubbins. It also awarded a certificate of merit to “Learning through the Seasons,” a series on interacting with children produced by Stan Wright, former Marquette teacher Iris Katers and Grandparents Teach Too.
For the second straight year, NMU was well-represented in the Ishpeming and Marquette 4th of July parades. NMU President David Haynes was joined by a large delegation of administrators, faculty, staff, students/student-athletes and alumni. Additions this year included the pep band, which provided musical entertainment along the route, a restored antique vehicle and two talented staff members who could walk and make balloon animals at the same time to give to children lining the parade route.
The Center for Student Enrichment would like to thank the following employees/retirees who served as mentors for the Student Leader Fellowship Program. During the 2012-13 academic year, each acted as a role model, adviser and friend for a student fellow, providing guidance and support as the students strive to become leaders of their communities through service.
