Achievements

Kia Jane Richmond (English) was recently elected to the Conference on English Education (CEE) National Nominating Committee. She will be taking nominations for CEE at the annual conference in Washington, D.C.

Dan Truckey  (Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center) was awarded $9,215 from the Michigan Humanities Council to support the center’s current Music in the Pines exhibition, which focuses on the history of the Hiawatha Traditional Music Festival. The grant term runs through Jan. 31.

Alex Gubbins (English) received $4,900 from the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry. This grant is supporting his work translating Husam Al-Serai’s debut poetry collection, titled Wihdahu Ul-Turbah Yuqhaqahu: The Desert Laughs Alone.  The grant term ends Dec. 31.
