How to use the Bulletin

In this Undergraduate Bulletin website, you will find information about all majors, minors and degree programs offered by Northern Michigan University and which courses you will need to take to earn your chosen degree.

The “Programs” menu link provides information about each of the departments offering degrees.

The “Courses” link provides course descriptions offered at NMU. The course schedule lists courses offerings for the current or upcoming semester, course instructor, meeting time, dates and location. There is also a link to which is where you go to register for courses, pay tuition, obtain your course schedule and view grades, etc.

The “Liberal Studies” link explains NMU’s liberal studies requirements. The section features courses you select outside of your specialty to achieve a well-rounded education.

The “Admissions” and “Getting Started at NMU” sections explain the steps you will need to take before you can register for courses and start your NMU experience. “Getting Started” also contains links to information on tuition and fees; financial aid; academic standards, policies and degree requirements; the notebook computer program; and student advising.

The "How to Earn a Degree" link provides information about academic standards, policies and degree requirements for each type of degree. This section also provides the rules and regulations that need to be followed, the grading system, course registration and much other information including the graduation process as well as participation in commencement.

To search for majors and minors, course descriptions, etc., please use the search functions within the bulletin site, not the search bar at the top of the page. That search is a comprehensive NMU website search found on all NMU Web pages.
