What's New, NMU?

For the week of Monday, May 23, 2011

Don't let the blue sky in this photo fool you; we've been on the receiving end of a number of dreary, rainy days. This photo, which shows work on the roof of the Superior Dome, was actually taken more than a week ago. The 296,000 sq ft Superior Dome roof will soon be recovered with a tan TPO membrane replacing the original gray roof covering that was installed in 1990.  The southeast entrance reconfiguration will be included in this project.  Construction began in May, and is scheduled to be completed by November 2011.

Unique opportunity for Marquette community to see Jeff Daniels

"An Evening with Jeff Daniels" presented by Cliffs Natural Resources provides a unique opportunity for NMU alumni and the Marquette community to hear Jeff Daniels, live in concert, free of charge. Daniels, a Michigan singer-songwriter and actor, will take to the stage at the Marquette Commons Friday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m. Daniels has played to sold-out crowds across the U.S. Now with four CDs to his credit (LIVE & UNPLUGGED, GRANDFATHER’S HAT, TOGETHER AGAIN with fellow Circle Rep actor Jonathan Hogan, and LIVE AT THE PURPLE ROSE), Jeff Daniels once again takes to the road. His honest, sincere, and relatable approach to songwriting allows us all to be reminded of our own lives, our own hopes, and our own dreams. So, pull up a chair, give a listen, enjoy some great songwriting and some mean guitar work, tap your foot, and enjoy the musical crafting of Jeff Daniels.

Visiting Marquette for Summer Reunion

We've put together a web site with all the Marquette travel information you need to plan a visit. Many area hotels are offering alumni discounts during Summer Reunion, so make sure to ask when making reservations. There are plenty of additional activities taking place during the summer in Marquette. We've put together some maps that you may find helpful, also.

Summer Reunion registration is available online. You can also check out the list of those alumni who have already registered.
