Evan Hammond-Leppek

Senior Admissions Counselor, Minnesota, First Year and Transfer Students

Hometown:

Lexington, AL

Professional/Personal Biography:

I first began working in admissions as an ambassador and student worker at the University of North Alabama where I received my B.A. in Vocal/Choral Music. I then continued my studies at Louisiana State University, where I received my M.M. in Voice Performance and Opera while also serving as a graduate assistant in the School of Music Office of Recruitment and Diversity. After completing my masters, I then began my career as a professional opera singer where I completed performing residencies with many notable American companies including Central City Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Shreveport Opera, and Utah Opera. I loved my time performing and found the collaborative process of opera to be very enjoyable; however, after a few years of performing, I had a strong desire to switch gears and re-visit my experience in college admissions. I believe higher education to be life-changing, and it is my passion to assist students and help them reach their goals!

Most Memorable College Experience:

Touring Italy with my college choir!

Favorite Marquette Activity:

Cliff-Diving at Presque Isle Park (the cold water, not so much)!

Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone else entering college:

As someone who started college as a biology major and finished with a degree in choral music, I’d say be open to change and development as an individual throughout your college career while still maintaining your work ethic and drive!
