Foundation Kicks Off
Faculty/Staff Campaign
The NMU
Foundation will be reaching out to the campus community this fall and asking
faculty and staff members to give back to NMU. The fundraising drive begins this
week and runs through early November. During that time, the Foundation is hoping
to raise employee giving from a participation rate of 20 percent to about 50
percent, which is more in line with NMU’s peers.
“We know that faculty and staff give generously of their time and talents and that these are tough economic times for many on campus,” said Carol Carr (NMU Foundation), director of annual giving. “However, this is about helping students just a bit more and nobody knows better than our faculty and staff what it takes for a student to succeed and fully enjoy the NMU student experience. This is not about how much you give; it’s about participating. Every dollar makes an impact. You have control over where your gift is directed, to any program or department on campus. One-hundred percent of your gift will go where you want it to go.”
Carr said the NMU Foundation plans to have a fundraising drive on campus every fall. “The momentum that is created by high levels of faculty and staff giving can be incredible and really inspire our generous alumni and friends to do even more for our students.”
NMU employees will receive a packet that includes a payroll deduction form and information about making a gift. The campus community will receive updates on progress throughout the campaign.
Foundation staff members are available to discuss the campaign with individuals or groups, to answer questions and to provide more information about the importance of private giving at NMU. Gifts can be made through payroll deduction, online at www.nmu.edu/foundation/give, or by contacting the NMU Foundation office at ext. 2627 to arrange a one-time donation. |
