Tolerance Activities Planned Around Coulter Speech

“Township on Tolerance” activities highlighting pro-tolerance and diversity values are being planned in conjunction with the upcoming visit by conservative commentator and author Ann Coulter. Her speech is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, in Vandament Arena.

A group composed of students,the Progressive Student Roundtable, employees and community members is coordinating the activities. First on the schedule is a tolerance week kickoff at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in the Cadillac Room of the University Center. A rally will be held from 5:30-7:00 the night of Coulter’s presentation near Vandament Arena.

Remaining activities for the week are as follows: a scholarly forum on tolerance and diversity issues is scheduled from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in 104 Jamrich; an opportunity to tell personal stories related to diversity or discrimination at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the Whitman Hall commons (room 136); and a dance and concert tentatively scheduled for the following weekend at a location to be determined. Coulter is a lawyer and author of Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton and Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right. She also writes for Human Events and the Universal Press Syndicate about political and legal issues. Her visit is sponsored by the College Republicans. Tickets are $5 for NMU students and $15 for general public.
