Presentations

Don Faust (Mathematics and Computer Science Department) traveled to four universities over a one-week period to address study-abroad possibilities and how they can enrich the educational experience. Faust made presentations to students and held discussions with faculty and administrators at Saginaw Valley State University and Grand Valley State University in Michigan, Wilmington College in Ohio, and Ball State University in Indiana.

Kia Jane Richmond (English) presented "Teaching Mental Health through Literature: Strategies and Suggestions" at the Michigan Council of Teachers of English fall conference in Lansing. At her workshop session, Richmond discussed how she uses "good books" to teach mental health issues (i.e. depression, suicide, schizophrenia, self-mutilation, etc.) to young adults. Suggestions for writing and assignments that address multiple intelligences were also explored.
