Revising

What is revising?

Revising is the act of revisiting your work and editing it to improve the entire piece.

Strategies

Add information:

Is there anything else the reader needs to know? Does your supporting information prove your thesis?

Rearrange information:

Is the information making sense in its current order? Is it effective the way the information is currently ordered?

Remove information:

Is there extra information that detracts from overall point? Are you talking about jelly beans when your thesis talks about green pepper?

Replace information:

Are some of your phrasings detracting from your writing? Are there sentences that are too complex or too simple? Can any of the words or details be replaced to make something clearer or something more relevant?
