The Inverted Pyramid

What is the Inverted Pyramid?
The inverted pyramid is a method used by journalists by which the most important information goes first within a text and then trickles down to the least important.  The pyramid is important because its use allows for readers to leave the story at any point and still know the most important, newsworthy, information. Following the pyramid also allows for easier editing, because if an article is too long it can be cut from the bottom.
