Job Opportunities

The Upward Bound program hires qualified Northern Michigan University students to serve as tutors to our high school participants.  Tutors are needed for all academic areas.  Enthusiasm, willingness to help and patience are the most desirable characteristics.

If accepted for the job of tutor during the academic year, you can expect to work 5 to 10 hours a week. It is up to the tutor and student to set up a time and a place for the tutoring session. This is usually decided at an Upward Bound meeting held late in September. It is your duty and responsibility to provide tutorial services to Upward Bound students at Ishpeming, Marquette, Negaunee and Westwood High Schools.

"My tutor is the most hardworking person I have ever had as a tutor.  Her hardworking presence inspires me to work harder in school and keep myself organized and on track."
