Mark Welke has been a faculty member at Northern Michigan University since 1991. He teaches in the aviation maintenance technology program and serves as the faculty adviser for the aviation maintenance club.
Professor Welke came to NMU with 7 years of teaching aircraft maintenance experience and logged some 5,000 hours of flight time as a commercial/instrument pilot. He has been a licensed mechanic since 1975, a mechanics examiner since 1980 and a commercial pilot since 1976. He holds a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification with an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license and is currently the only FAA designated mechanics examiner north of the Lansing area.
