Biographical Profile

Jim Morgan joined the electrical line technician program at Northern Michigan University as an instructor in August of 2011.   Instructor Morgan’s interest in electrical line construction started as a young boy when he would often tag along with his father, a general foreman for a power line contractor in central Michigan.  He began his own career as a line worker in 1973, working with several different contractors and earning his Journeyman lineman certification through Local 876 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.  Jim continued working contract work through 1983 when he began employment with the Marquette Board of Light and Power.  There, he worked as a journeyman lineman, retiring with 28 years of service.

Jim has a great love of the outdoors and enjoys hunting and fishing as well as working in his garden.  He also enjoys cooking and singing in his church choir.
