2018 Celebration Submission Instructions

*NOTE - If the number of entries surpasses the time and/or space available, applications will be accepted in the order they were received. LIMITED PRESENTATION TIMES.
Notifications of acceptance/room assignment/time will be sent via e-mail no later than March 30, 2018.

Poster Posters can be any size from 2' x 2' to 3' x 4' (24" x 24" to 36" to 48") and can be printed in color or black and white (black and white is very affordable). Posters should not be mounted. Please email your file saved as .pdf format to printing@nmu.edu or call Printing Services (227-2454). **Submit your order as soon as possible

Office Max and Signs Unlimited can also print large format posters at an affordable rate. Their contact information is available on the web. 

NOTE: If you plan to use your poster in a future off-campus event, check to make sure to match their specifications.


Clearly include name of student(s) on the poster.  Submitter(s) encouraged to stand by their poster between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. as their schedule permits. The main poster presentation time will be between 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.  Wednesday, April 11th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Jamrich 1100 Lobby

Posters received after 2 p.m. will not be included in the judging but can still be displayed. Staff will be available in Jamrich 1100 lobby until 2 p.m. on 4/11.

DROP OFF: Jamrich 1100 Lobby on Wednesday, 4/11 by 2 p.m. Posters that are not mounted will be clipped on cardboard display boards.

PICK-UP: Posters must be picked up from the first floor of Jamrich Hall between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 12th.

If not picked up by 5 p.m., they will be available in the Graduate Education and Research Office (401 Cohodas) until Tuesday, May 18, 2018. If not picked up by this date, they will be recycled.

Posters will be divided into Graduate, Undergraduate Lower Division, Undergraduate Upper Division, and Group (more than 1 student preparing) categories. First, second and third place awards will be given in each category. All winners will be notified by 6 p.m. on April 11. Winners will be encouraged to be at the poster award ceremony on Thursday, April 12th at 9 a.m. to receive award and have photo taken.
Oral Presentation

A maximum of 10 minutes for presentation with a 5 minute discussion/question session. The room is equipment with a projector, laptop,
screen and remote slide controller. If the presentation requires a computer file, it should be saved to a flash drive for use in the computer provided in your assigned presentation room. If special software or a MacBook is needed, please bring your mobile device and have it on and ready to be plugged in to the projector at your presentation time.

Moderators will introduce each speaker and will provide time cues for the last 3 minutes of the presentation. The schedule must stay on time with no more than 15 minutes total for each presenter.

Wednesday, April 11th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. ONLY if you would like your file loaded on to the presentation room computer. You can choose to simply bring your flash drive to your presentation on April 12.


Bring flash drive loaded with presentation to your assigned presentation room on Thursday, April 12 or load it to the presentation computer on Wednesday, April 11 between 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  None
Art Display Must be able to be displayed on an easel, table or free-standing in high traffic area. Please contact event organizers at the time of artist statement submission to coordinate display. Student is encouraged to stand by their art display on the first floor of Jamrich Hall between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. as their schedule permits. May be turned in at Jamrich 1100 lobby on Wednesday, April 11. Please be sure to contact event organizers ahead of time with requirements for your display studentcelebrate@nmu.edu.

Bring to Jamrich 1100 lobby on 4/11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
