In the 66-kilogram championship round, Lester dropped a 3-1, 3-2 decision to Russia’s 2004 Olympian Maxim Semenov.
“Harry wrestled like a true warrior,” said USA Wrestling’s National Greco-Roman coach Steve Fraser.
Lester earned a position on the World Team by placing first at the World Team Trials last May in Sioux City, Iowa. He defeated Marcel Cooper (Colorado Springs, Colo.) 4-0, 2-0 in the first match and 4-0, 1-1 in the second to qualify for his second consecutive trip to the Senior World Championships.
Lester acknowledges he has ascended through the Greco-Roman ranks rapidly, but remains grounded.
“I haven’t been around that long,” he said. “I’ve only been on the circuit for four years. I still have a lot to learn.”
Lester is in his fourth year at the USOEC. He is a senior at Northern Michigan University, majoring in history.
