MARQUETTE— United States Olympic Education Center weightlifter Sarah Robles (Desert Hot Springs, Calif.) secured a spot on the 2008 University World Team Sept. 5-7 at the Roger DeGarmo Memorial Tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo. She will compete at the World University Championships in Athens, Greece, in November.

Teammates and NMU seniors Collin Ito (Vista, Calif.) and Justin Brimhall (Miami, Fla.) missed qualifying for the University World Team by one lift each.
Brimhall lifted 135 kg in the snatch and 155 kg in the clean-and-jerk, totaling a personal record of 290 kg in his weight class of 77 kg. At 105+ kg, Ito lifted 156 kg in the snatch and 190 kg in the clean-and-jerk, for a total of 346 kg.
“I’m pleased with the results,” said head weightlifting coach Andy Tysz. “I think that the way they performed this weekend will hold well for the future, and you can never go wrong with personal records.”
