USOEC Weightlifters to Compete at National Collegiate Championships

MARQUETTE—The United States Olympic Education Center weightlifting team will compete at the 2008 USA Weightlifting National Collegiate Championships April 11-13 in Reno, Nev. Lifters meeting the minimum overall totals in each weight class will qualify for the World University Team.
Coach Andy Tysz said, “It is the last competition of the school semester and the team is looking forward to be done with training. The athlete’s goals are to set personal records and to make it onto the World University Team.”
Athletes who are competing include Northern Michigan University seniors Paul Roberts (Bartow, Fla.) at 85 kilograms and Ashley Suggs (Whitesboro, Texas) at 69 kg, juniors Collin Ito (Vista, Calif.) at 105-plus kg, Justin Brimhall (Miami, Fla.) at 77 kg and post-baccalaureate Vance Newgard (Homewood, Ill.) at 105-plus kg.
