The NMU Lacrosse Club is active in the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA), which provides varsity level competition for lacrosse clubs across the Mid-West. NMU competes in the Northern Division of the CCLA Division 2, which includes clubs from Grand Valley State, Hope College, Saginaw Valley State, Ferris State University, University of Michigan-Dearborn and Calvin College. The team plays an exhibition game in the fall and a spring season. NMU's Lacrosse Club was founded in 2001 and has become very competitive in the CCLA, ranking in the top 25 for the past two years. In their first year of competition in the CCLA (2007), Northern finished with a record of 6-2, ranking third out of seven teams. In the 2008 spring season NMU went 4-4, finishing fourth out of seven teams. Entering each season, NMU sets its sights on going to the CCLA conference tournament and then moving on to compete at the MCLA national tournament to bring back a national title. NMU Lacrosse is looking for interested individuals that have prior playing experience or a strong desire to become quality lacrosse players and are dedicated to the team and improving their skills.
