Marquette, Mich.—United States Olympic Education Center Greco-Roman wrestler Barrett Stanghill is taking over coaching duties for the Northern Michigan University Angry Fish Wrestling Club.

Stanghill, of Philipsburg, Mont., takes the reins after coaches Ryan and Corey Hope graduated from NMU last semester.

The 5-foot-8 NMU freshman competes in the 74- kilogram weight class. He is in his second semester as a resident athlete with the USOEC.

Stanghill, who previously served as an assistant club coach, is taking on his new role with enthusiasm.

“I’m really looking forward to helping these wrestlers improve their wrestling skills,” said Stanghill. “We have a great group of athletes in the club who are eager to learn.”

Assisting Stanghill will be USOEC teammate Toby Erickson of East Helena, Mont. Erickson is a 6-foot-3 junior and competes at 120 kg. Both coaches are past Montana high school state champions.

The Angry Fish team meetsfrom 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday in the USOEC wrestling gym in the Superior Dome.
