Wrestlers Last Chance for Trials

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. –Fifteen U.S. Olympic Education Center Greco-Roman wrestlers will compete in the Final U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifying Tournament March 31-April 1 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. They must place first or second in their respective weight classes to advance to the Olympic Trials.

            “We have been training hard and they seem focused for the tournament,” said Coach Rob Hermann. “My goals for them are high and I expect them to perform to their ability.” 

            Wrestlers competing are: Northern Michigan University seniors Alex Fleming (Sterling, Va.), Chad Hemerson (Orange, Calif.) and Corey Hope (Carol Stream, Ill.); juniors Bo Beckman (Orem, Utah) and Aaron Briggs (Turson, Ariz.); sophomores Nick Alvarez (Miami, Fla.), Jason Chudzinski (Colonie, N.Y.), Ethan Dondlinger (Slinger, Wis.), Charles Lewis (Chicago, Ill.), Thrasher Porcher (Chuluota, Fla.) and Dmitry Ryabchinskiy (Brooklyn, N.Y.); and freshmen Parker Betts (St. Michael, Md.), John Bozarth (El Paso, Ill.), Dillan Cowan (Harvard, Ill.) and Lee Wildes (Oviedo, Fla.).

            Earlier in the season, 11 other USOEC wrestlers qualified for a spot at the Trials, which will be held April 21-22 in Iowa City, Iowa.

            A webcast of the Final U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifying Tournament will be available on TheMat.tv throughout the weekend.
