EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team faced Michigan State University in an exhibition game on Sunday. NMU was down by 11 points at half (41-30) and dropped the game by a 74-63 count.
Three Wildcats ended the game in double-figures in the scoring column. Ricky Volcy led the way with 14 points. He also added a team-high five rebounds and four blocks. Chris Warner had 12 points while teammate Will Washington added 11. Warner had five assists for the game. Raymar Morgan led MSU with 16 points.
NMU was 17-56 for the game from the floor for 30.4 percent. From three-point land the ‘Cats were 11-31 for 35.5 percent. At the charity stripe NMU was 18-22 for 81.8 percent.
MSU shot 50 percent from the floor for the game (30-60) and 40 percent from the three-point line (4-10). From the free throw line MSU was 10-15 for 66.7 percent. The Spartans had a 20-rebound advantage over the ‘Cats at 46-26.
NMU will have a little time off before they tip it off for real. The ‘Cats first real game will be at UW-Green Bay on Friday, Nov. 17.
