Volleyball Team Keeps Tournament Hopes Alive

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team kept its conference tournament hopes alive on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats defeated Northwood in four games (30-19, 30-26, 28-30, 30-23). 
 
Sunday’s showdown (Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.) with Saginaw Valley State is a winner take all match. Whoever wins the match will receive the final spot in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Volleyball Tournament.
 
The ‘Cats improve to 15-10 overall and 7-10 in the GLIAC with the win on Saturday. The Timberwolves fall to 15-10 and 9-8 respectively.
 
Mandie Meyer had a match-high 18 kills. She had 49 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .163. Samantha Schulte added 11 kills in the win. She had a hitting percentage of .167 on 30 total attempts. Schulte had both block solos on the day and 10 of the 28 block assists. Breanne Zaremba added eight block assists.
 
Breanne Zaremba added eight block assists and 18 digs. Cassie Osiecki had a team-high 20 digs.
