OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Northern Michigan University soccer team had a little tune-up on Friday night at UW-Oshkosh. The Wildcats defeated UW-Oshkosh 3-1 in a non-conference affair. NMU is now 15-2 on the season while UWO is 10-5-2. The win was the Wildcats sixth in a row.
Casey Wilcox made the score 1-0 when she kicked home her first goal of the season at 31:53. Andrea Lebert assisted. Joanna Kiilunen also scored her first goal of the season which made the count 2-0 at 49 minutes. Her goal was unassisted. Renee LeBlanc, who leads the team in goals, scored her 14th of the season at 53:04 for the 3-0 lead. LeBlanc’s goal was also unassisted. The home team added a goal by Elizabeth Kutzke at 72:24.
Kara Music had four saves for the game. UW-Oshkosh used two goalkeepers on the night. Katie Bera had two saves while Kerri Wettstein had one. NMU had 10 shots to four for the UWO team. Corner kicks were even at three each.
The team won’t have much time to rest as they are back in action on Sunday (Oct. 29) against Northwood on the NMU pitch.
