Volleyball Wildcats Drop Match to Ferris State
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – This weekend the Northern Michigan University volleyball team capped off its final road trip for the 2006 regular season. Today at Ferris State the Bulldogs defeated the Wildcats in four games (24-30, 30-26, 26-30, 24-30).
NMU is currently 14-10 overall on the season and 6-10 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). FSU improves to 20-6 and 12-5 respectively.
Three ‘Cats led the attack against the Bulldogs with 10 or more kills. Sam Schulte led the list with 11 kills. Barbara Homann and Mandie Meyer each had 10 for the match. The ‘Cats as a team had 54 total kills in 180 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .167.
Rachel Martinez and Brittany McGowan split the setting duties. Martinez had a team-high 21 assists while McGowan added 17. Cassie Osiecki had 24 digs while teammate Meyer added 18. NMU had one block solo and four block assists for the match. Schulte had the lone block solo and two of the block assists.
NMU will close out the regular season next week when the ‘Cats host Northwood on Saturday (Oct. 28) and Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (Oct. 29).
